News on our Sheepskin Deliveries

08 Feb 2013

We must apologise for the totally unacceptable delay in delivering sheepskin flying jackets this Winter, sadly the team running Aero from 2004 to last Autumn had been giving very unrealistic delivery dates considering the size of our order book and added to this, we feel the quality of sheepskin we've inherited when we resumed the running of Aero is way below Aero standard.

Our first priority is to provide a garment that merits the Aero label and this means sourcing sheepskins of the best grade possible.

Along with a much improved sheepskin, all zippers used on our US military jackets will be upgraded to Japanese Talon as standard.

Our WW2 RAF Sheepskin jacket is being totally overhauled, new patterns have been cut from original examples in our archives resulting in a much improved fit and more authentic sleeve profile. A completely new sheepskin has been sourced in The UK and tanned to perfectly match the original WW2 material specifications and these "new" RAF jackets will be fitted with very authentic deadstock zippers dating from the 1950s or 60s while stocks last, meanwhile more accurate replicas than our current ones are being especially made and should be ready by the late Spring.

While all materials used on our Sheepskin jackets will be improved to a much more authentic standard as soon as possible, we probably won't receive much more than sample deliveries until late spring so delivery of your order, realistically, won't be until into the summer months.

Meanwhile we need to clear the skins we've got. These will be used to produce "training" jackets made in the factory as part of a programme to convert more of our regular machinists into becoming familiar with the very different skills needed to make sheepskin flying jackets.

This gives customers with overdue orders three options......

1. We can offer you any jacket made during this training programme that matches your order at a vastly reduced price as soon as one becomes available
2. You can wait for a much better jacket than you would have got before, you can get a new delivery date for your existing order which, of course, would be at the old price with free delivery by way of an apology for the inconvenience.
3. Alternatively, of course, you can cancel your order at any time.
