Back in the 1980s we made a leather motorcycle boot base closely on a 1950s East German Border Patrol Boot, these are now collector's items, the last used pair I saw on EBay made nearly £200.
We were amazed to come across a few dozen pairs of virtually identical boots in a warehouse recently, unfortunately in the space between us finding the boots and getting them on line we have sold all the larger sizes (please see scroll down size list for the remaining sizes).
These boots date from the 1980s they are made from exceptionally heavy steerhide, they are storm welted ( which should mean they are water proof) with double leather sole topped by rubber half sole which appears to be slip resistant and the leather heel as a steel horse shoe running all the way around the edge of the heel. The toe caps feel like safety toecaps, they are half lined in leather and have a thick felt inner sole. The top of the boot draws in with a strap and buckle so they are fully wind resistant. This is a traditional boot, not a fashion item but a purpose built motorcycle boot the type that is impossible to find these days.
