Surprisingly this is the first used Alaskan Steerhide jacket we’ve been able to find since we started this section on our website. As we are now past the thousand used Aero mark this is quite remakable, but easily explained too. This was amazing leather, we used it from 1987 to the mid 1990s when it became impossible to get hold of any longer. The labelling helps date this one to the late 1980s and it would have been made in our second factory in Reid Street, Moffat or possibly in our London Factory in Belfast Road, Stoke Newington.
The jacket is quite stiff, this leather was always stiff but this one has a musty odour and I’d say it’s been store in a garage or somewhere similar. It’ll benefit for wearing to break it in again but also needs a few days hanging in fresh air to freshen it up. Other than this is needs no work, it’s in perfect condition, has a Talon zipper and Black Watch tartan wool lining. The previous owner has added an "aftermarket" inside pocket made from denim, we could have taken it, we will if requested to do so, but decided to leave this choice to the new owner.
Rarlity value alone makes it well worth the asking price as it’s very difficult to prize one of these Alaskan Steer jackets from it’s owner, we’ve tried enough times when a customer comes into the factory wearing one!
Very cheap for this leather but it has been poorly stored and needs some gentle coaxing to bring it back to it's best. Usually these rare used Alaska Steerhide jackets fetch around the £500 mark on our site
