USAAF Type A-2 CBI "Field Modified"

Not strictly an A2, this jacket is based on the theater amended CBI A2's which had fur collars added "in the field". Flight clothing was hard to come by in China, and more modified or non-issue spec clothing was worn by the 14th AF Crews than probably the rest of the AAF units collectively. Although the China Fur Collared A2s were fur added to the A2, we've replaced the leather top collar with a real nice piece of Mouton, same as used for the USN M422a, a jacket, incidentally, that was used by quite a few 14thAF pilots despite being a Navy Issue garments, (the AVG had been given most of their Flight Gear by the USN and the jackets drifted into service with the 14th after the AVG was disbanded). We've made many of these Fur Collared Type A2s as "specials" in the past and felt it was time to offer the option to all! The small shots show two such modified Type A2s that saw action in the CBI, top left : .W.P.White, 341stBG, 11thBS who flew B25's from Kweilin. Middle Left : Tech Serg Bertram Schwartz, also with the 11th as a gunner in B25s. Our CBI Fur Collared A2 is as the same as the AAF issue Type A2, in every way including the label, but with a Fur Collar, This one is in 50 Mission Steer (now discontinuted) The originals in the photos look as if they've used AAF Shearling to make the collars, we tried an AAF off white Shearling collar, but this Mouton looked better.
