This fully reversible Wool and Horsehide jacket is basically a clone of a 1930s fully reversible Horsehide and wool jacket from our archives. It took us nearly 10 years to source the right wool to replicate our version; the 1930s original is still in our archives and can be compared to the new Aero.
The correct 100% Block Check Wool and the match is so perfect not only to the eye but also to the hand, the exclusive British woven cloth has got that hard to the touch hand that is so typical of pre-WW2 wool and is usually only found in vintage clothing. Worn with the Green and Black "Trapper" Check wool side out, the jacket is a very convincing version of the one worn by Brando in "On The Waterfront", so much so, we've decided to call this jacket the "Waterfront" although we now offer a non reversible version modified slightly from this jacket so that it's identical to the jacket in the iconic 1950s movie.
Worn the leather side out it looks like a pre war flight jacket, similar to a Type A-1. As I've spent so long in the sourcing of the wool I might be biased but in my opinion this is one of the finest jackets we've ever produced. We only offer the one colour combination (as pictured) the wool side Green and Black and is reversed with Front Quarter Horsehide in black only with 100% wool Knit also in black.
