Henley Shirts
Henley shirts are collarless, pullover shirts with a round neck and short buttoned placket. They were originally worn by rowers in Henley-on-Thames, hence their name, but have now become a popular and versatile wardrobe staple thanks to their comfortable design and soft feel.
At Aero Leathers, our cotton Henley shirts are made in Portugal with expert attention to detail, so you can rest assured that they will be just as durable and authentic as the Henleys made for rowers in the 19th century!

The History of the Cotton Henley Shirt
The Henley originated as an undershirt for rowers in Victorian England. Their lightweight structure, durability and the use of a buttoned opening on the neck instead of an irritating collar proved perfect for rowers, allowing for easy ventilation and ease at taking the shirt on and off.
With the turn of the Industrial Revolution allowing for mass production of clothing, the Henley shirt became even more popular and affordable for the working class, often used as durable workwear in labour-intensive environments.
The Henley remained a sportswear item until the 1970s when Ralphn Lauren introduced Henleys into his clothing line, propelling it into mainstream fashion where it has remained until today.
