The cut of the first style from our premier range is based on a vintage 1920s Mackinaw belonging to our founder that had finally given up the ghost.

The cut of this old wool coat was amazing and once the remains were carefully dismantled and transferred onto card it became obvious that it could be easily converted to accept a zipper. From day one the cut wowed everyone, within the factory the term "Premium" was used to describe the cut but word of this new pattern soon got out on the internet, well before we decided what to do with the new pattern. The shape, while classic late 1920s, has actually benefitted from the addition of a zipper, the collar is quite different from our old collar, it sits more upright to the neck curve, the points are slimmer and the whole neck area has a streamlined look to it. Although the armholes are cut much higher than any previous Aero jacket , the sleeves are very comfortable and the combination of both gives a very flattering line without any batswing effect, the bane of so many leather jackets.

This jacket is a 1930s inspired design which features our premier cut (a slim fit with high cut armholes and sleeves), offering an even closer fit to the body than was typical of the slimmer fitting styles of this era.

Additionally, the jacket’s side adjusters can be cinched in at the natural waist to provide to achieve a more relaxed/fitted look around the waist.

We normally recommend selecting your usual size for this style (typically the closest size to your expanded chest measurement) for a comfortably slim fit and the intended look. Very few people can comfortably size down in our Premier styles (and if you can, there will be little room for layering) and depending on your body type and what you intend to wear underneath the jacket, you may need to size up from your usual size.
