We can't take the credit for the design of the Thunderbay, as it's a virtual stitch for stitch replica of an original 1930s jacket in our archives, it's one our founder wore for many years until it became too delicate for everyday wear, and thanks to some sterling work by David Macks we identified the maker of the original as Franco Canadian.
The jacket is exceptionally functional and ideal for protection from the very worst of weather, after all the original stood up to a couple of decades of Scottish winters! There are two deep Moleskin lined hand warmer pockets, the combination of the fur collar, the heavy Horsehide and the Shearling lining keep the wearer snug and dry while the fur collar, the adjustable belt and the stud cuffs keep out any wind or cold that might otherwise get inside at the extremities.
This is one of the warmest jackets in the entire Aero range, there will be few jackets on the market that are better suited to the harsh Winter conditions.
While this jacket is a 1930s inspired design, it is cut more like a 1950s style which offers a fit with quite a bit of room around the shoulders and chest, however it does taper down to a trimmer fit towards the hem.
We typically recommend ordering this style in your usual size. However, depending on your body shape, you may be able to size down for a more modern fitted look but this will need further discussion with our prodution team to ensure we can get the correct fit taking the taper and the sheepskin lining into account.
Don’t worry, all sizing information displayed here is only a guide. Every order placed is checked over by a member of our production team who will confirm your size selection against your measurements or recommend any necessary changes that need to be made. If you have any specific queries, you can note these in the special instructions box on the ‘measurements’ page when placing your order.
