Classic Socks

Our classic CC41 wool socks are knitted by one of Scotland's Premier sock knitters using the highest-grade heavy Shetland Wool available. Each pair of vintage wool socks is hand finished and features a classic CC41 symbol on the sole.

Why choose socks from Aero Leathers?

The Utility symbol, CC41, is one of the most iconic symbols in the history of clothing in Britain. Clothes rationing began in June 1941 in an effort to cut down the nation's consumption of scarce resources and the CC41 Utility scheme was started 3 months later as a method of providing economical, well-made clothes for the less-well-off. From somewhat hit-and-miss early garments, the Utility symbol grew to be a mark of quality and value.

Our CC41 socks emulate the style and build quality of wartime garments made under the scheme and are made by one of Scotland's Premier sock knitters from high grade shetland wool, which is as robust as it is comfortable.
