Not to be confused with the vastly inferior current issue Type G1, this is the real thing, just what Commander Richard Byrd had in mind when the first jackets were commissioned back in the late 1930's.
This is an original pre-war spec US Navy Type M422a goatskin flight jacket, just like the ones supplied to the legendary American Volunteer Group better known as "The Flying Tigers"! Made from tough, thick, vegetable tanned Dark Brown Indian Goatskin, like the originals, with that unmistakable hard wearing fine pebble finish that, for most jacket makers, is just a distant memory or an un-obtainable dream.
Made exactly to the original specifications, two button down pockets, the left containing a hidden pen pocket, bi-swing back, underarm gussets, genuine US made Brass Talon zip and a choice of Rust or Dark Brown Mouton collar with throat closure under the collar for extra wind protection.
Our jacket has a deep wine rayon satin lining with an original style compass pocket with stud fastening inside the left hand facing and uses original US Navy single thickness, two way weave, pure wool jersey identical to that fitted to the originals. Other options available on our M422a Jacket can have USN under collar markings by request.
Standard size range is 36" to 48" inclusive, other sizes are available by special order
