This is an original pre-war spec US Navy Type M422a goatskin flight jacket, just like the ones supplied to the legendary American Volunteer Group better known as "The Flying Tigers"! Not to be confused with the vastly inferior current issue Type G-1, this is the real thing, just what Commander Richard Byrd had in mind when the first jackets were commissioned back in the late 1930's.

Made from high grade vegetable tanned Dark Brown Indian Goatskin, like the originals, has that unmistakable hard wearing fine pebble grain. We fit a deep wine rayon satin lining with an original style compass pocket with stud fastening inside the left hand facing and original US Navy single thickness, two way weave, pure wool jersey identical to that used on pre 1950s originals. Other options available for our M422a Jacket is a choice of colours for the Mouton collar and the option of USN under collar markings by request.

This style has room around the shoulders and chest (aided by the additional movement provided by its under-arm gussets) but has a slim fit around the body.

We typically recommend ordering the size closest to your expanded chest measurement, but some customers may need to size up for more room around the body depending on their other measurements.
