This British woven all wool cloth is exclusive to Aero, in fact there is probably nothing like it being woven anywhere in The World.
Around 25 years ago we persuaded one of Britain finest Woollen Mills to weave some for us,. While they are famous for their high grade superfine tweeds, we wanted ours woven in "hard" wool, like a high class “Washed Wool” from days long gone by.
It had that firm to the touch hand that is so typical of pre-WW2 utility wool which is usually only found in vintage clothing. Very reluctantly they agreed to weave a few thousand yards for us, ”but never again" they swore! This ran out a few years ago but, finally after years of persuasion, we’ve managed to get the Mill to do another run of this unique cloth, this time not only in Green/Black but also in Red/Black.
So we are excited to announce this new Wool and Leather Half Belt style that features a leather insert in the centre back pleat, full leather sleeves, facings, top collar and front yokes with a 30oz Wool body, undercuffs and undercollar. Jacket comes with a cotton drill lining as standard.
This jacket is a 1930s inspired design which offers a closer fit to the body as was typical of the slimmer fitting styles of this era.
The perceived ‘correct’ fit of the 1930s is generally similar to modern sizing, so we typically recommend selecting your usual size for this style to achieve the intended fit.
We very rarely recommend sizing down.
Don’t worry, all sizing information displayed here is only a guide. Every order placed is checked over by a member of our production team who will confirm your size selection against your measurements or recommend any necessary changes that need to be made. If you have any specific queries, you can note these in the special instructions box on the ‘measurements’ page when placing your order.
